ECM MP Standard
The Accredited ECM Course for Medical Practitioners (2 Months Access, 30 CPD Points)
The ECM MP Standard course has been developed to provide Emergency Centre training from an Emergency Medicine perspective. The course has been designed and is presented by an Emergency Medicine Specialist and covers the wide spectrum of topics and specialties needed on a daily basis in any Emergency Centre. The course ranges from major topics such as CPR, intubation and ventilation, to common minor presentations like rashes, fever and how to glue a wound.
The course is made up of 30 topics that are broken down into multiple smaller videos, followed by MCQ’s. The videos can be watched at your own pace with the system allowing you to stop and rejoin the course at any point. The moment you log back in, you will carry on from where you left off. This will allow for you to work on the course at times that suit you. Once you have finished a topic, you will complete 5 MCQs before you will be able to continue to the next module. You will have 2 months of access to the course to allow more than enough time to finish the course. After 2 months, your enrolment expires and you will no longer have access to the ECM MP Standard course, the online videos or the teaching materials..
The focus is not only to train and equip Emergency Centre doctors, but also to provide a certificate that assures your future Emergency Centre employers that you have covered a wide range of Emergency Centre topics, and are therefore better placed to provide quality emergency care.

Medical OfficerThe ECM MP course consists of 26 hours of videos with MCQs questions between topics. The course is designed to track your progress so that you can stop a video at any point and continue from where you left off. This allows candidates to complete the course around their schedule. The course on average requires 28 hours to complete. The MCQ questions related to each topic are completed immediately after the specific topic has been viewed so that the course is completed the moment the final video has been completed and its 5 MCQs correctly answered.
The course should be completed within 2 months. After 2 months, your enrolment expires and you will no longer have access to the course. You will receive weekly reminders to help keep you on track. Your profile will keep you aware of your progress by tracking the percent completed as you continue through the course. If you are unable to complete the course within 2 months, you will need to purchase an extension.
The course is broken into 30 topics, with 5 MCQs at the end of each topic. You will need to attain a 100% on the 5 MCQs related to each topic immediately after completing that topic, before being able to move onto the next topic. You are able to redo the MCQs if you were unable to answer all of them correctly.

The ECM MP course was developed to cover the many topics required for any medical doctor that works in an Emergency Center or any acute care setting. Many different sources were assessed to guide the topics that were included. The topics that need to be covered by a DipPEC candidate were also assessed during this process. This course would be very helpful for any candidate preparing for their DipPEC, however, ECM MP is by no means exhaustive and would not cover all that is needed for a DipPEC. So further studying beyond the ECM MP course would be needed.
