ECM PHP Standard
The Accredited ECM Course for Prehospital Practitioners (2 Months Access, 20 CPD Points)
ECM PHP has been developed by an Emergency Medicine specialist for prehospital practitioners. Designed for Paramedics, Occupational Health Nurses, Doctors and General Practitioners, the ECM PHP course covers 20 topics from CPR and managing a polytrauma patient, right through to basic wound care and managing a chipped tooth.
Most other courses are designed with the hospital setting in mind where there is easy access to investigations and specialist support. The PHP course has been developed to assist in the resource limited space of the prehospital setting where the focus is on providing appropriate initial assessment and care and then further guidance on which emergency conditions can continue to be managed in the prehospital setting and which patients require transfer to a hospital. The aim is to help prehospital practitioners to feel competent and confident to provide the best emergency care for any patient no matter how critical or minor their acute presentation may be. The course will benefit General Practitioners who also work in Emergency Centres.
The course can be completed on any device and consists of multiple videos that can be paused and continued at any point to suit your availability. The course does not require any tests to be completed and can be completed by even the busiest health care practitioners. Doctors who work predominantly in Emergency Centres and are interested in pursuing their Diploma in Primary Emergency Care (DipPEC) would benefit from this course but may consider to rather do the 30 topic ECM MP course designed specifically for Emergency Centre focused doctors.
You will have 2 months of access to the course to allow more than enough time to finish the course. After 2 months, your enrolment expires and you will no longer have access to the course, online videos & teaching materials. If you are unable to complete the course in this time, you will need to purchase an extension. However, many candidates are able to comfortably complete the course in as little as a few days, so it is unlikely that you will experience difficulty with this.
On completion of the course you will receive 20 CPD points and a completion certificate that is valid for 2 years, and can be used in your professional development portfolio. The course certificate can also be included with your CV , along with the course summary to demonstrate your knowledge of Emergency Centre care.
